Liberty is our own county seat. It is about 29 miles from the lot: down TX-321 to Dayton, then roughly 7.6 miles east on US 90.
On May 5, 1831 the Mexican land commissioner José Francisco Madero granted thirty-six land titles here and in doing so formed a new municipality: Villa de la Santísima Trinidad de la Libertad. Liberty became the county seat and was incorporated in 1837.

Liberty is in the south central part of the county, on State Highway 146 and US 90, and it once stood at the head of navigation on the Trinity River. TxDOT describes SH 146 running concurrent with US 90 for about 7.6 miles between Liberty and Dayton, which is exactly the stretch you drive coming from our side.

The City of Liberty states that it does not have a zoning ordinance. Even so, its manufactured homes ordinance only allows them to be placed in the areas marked on the map the city secretary holds, and requires that a home be “no more than ten (10) model years of age older than the current model year”. Homes built before June 15, 1976 are prohibited inside the city.

If the land is outside the city limits, the Liberty County permit applies, required for all construction “regardless of its location in the County”. The county’s main permit office is at 311 Travis Street, in Liberty.
